The Genetic Task Force of Illinois and the Northwestern University Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling!

  • Learn about the roles of genetic counselors
  • Participate in discussions about the ethical and psychosocial issues that can arise within a genetic counseling session
  • Learn about the graduate school admissions process and ways to strengthen a graduate school application
  • Network with current faculty and students 


9:00-9:30am - Breakfast and Registration

9:30-10:30am - Introduction to Genetic Counseling

10:30am-Noon - Genetic Counseling Specialties and Case Examples

Noon-1:00pm - Networking Lunch with Faculty and Students from the NU Graduate Program

1:00-2:00pm - Psychosocial Issues in Genetic Counseling

2:00-3:30pm - Genetic Counseling Graduate School Applications and Admissions - Cathy Wicklund, Northwestern Program Director, and Suzanne O'Neill, Northwestern Associate Program Director

3:30-4:00pm - Concluding Remarks


The Northwestern University Chicago campus is very accessible by Chicago public transportation

If you need to drive, parking passes are available for purchase. Parking passes must be purchased by Friday, August 5th. Parking passes will not be available for purchase after this date.  Pre-purchased passes will be available for pick up at registration. The parking ramp is located at 222 E. Huron St. Chicago, IL 60611.
